Founding Parliament members had handguns - Armenian Police
Police in Armenia have already issued a statement in connection with yesterday’s events at Yerevan’s Liberty Square, in which they said that two of the people taken to police stations from the square had handguns with them.
A1+ has contacted the press service of Armenian Police to know more information on the detainees. The police confirmed the information saying that Garo Yegnukian and Gagik Sarukhanyan, both members of the Founding Parliament had handguns with them.
An investigation is underway.
All other detainees have been released.
Commenting on the disinformation spread by some media outlets, Garo Yegnukian today wrote on his Facebook account that the gun he was carrying on Thursday is registered in his name and he has the right to carry it. Earlier, Gagik Sarukhanyan said the gun found on him was legal.
