Mayor: Do not smear the image of Gyumri (video)
Gyumri Mayor Samvel Balasanyan gave a press conference on Friday calling for restraint after yesterday’s protests in Yerevan and Gyumri following the brutal murder of an Armenian family by a Russian soldier.
“Let us avoid pinning a label on our city,” Mr Balasanyan said adding that there were ‘provocateurs’ in the crowd.
The mayor said they bear full responsibility for the killed family members and are obliged to build tombs for them.
