Champion of Armenia loses the first match
The current champion of Armenia’s Men’s Chess Championship Tigran Kotanjyan lost the first match. Yesterday in the first round of the Republican Chess Championship, the experienced GM was defeated by younger chess player Hovhannes Gabuzyan. Today in the second round Tigran Kotanjyan will meet the tournament newcomer, International Master Arman Mikayelyan. Tournament favorites Robert Hovhannisyan and Zaven Andriasyan ended their matches in a draw. Arman Pashikyan, who has the highest rating, defeated Samvel Ter-Sahakyan in the first match. Today he will meet another leader Hovhannes Gabuzyan.
