Armenian, Russian FMs talk over phone

Armenia’s Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian had a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, during which they discussed the violent murder that left six family members dead in Armenia’s second largest city of Gyumri. The parties stressed the importance of cooperation between the competent authorities in Armenia and Russia. Sergey Lavrov conveyed his condolences to the relatives of the victims and assured the Armenian FM that the Russian side will assist in the crime detection within the shortest possible timeframes. A Russian soldier stationed at the 102nd Russian military base in Gyumri is suspected of murdering six people in Gyumri earlier on Monday. The only survivor of the massacre is a six-month-old child who sustained knife injuries. The child is now in hospital and is said to be in serious condition. Police are now searching for the Russian soldier identified as Valeri Permyakov and are calling on Gyumri residents to report any sightings of the suspect. Those killed have been identified as Seryezha Avetisyan, Hasmik Avetisyan, Aida Avetisyan, Armen Avetisyan, Araksya Poghosyan and and Hasmik Avetisyan (two years old).
