Russian Embassy condemns killing of six-member family in Gyumri city
The Russian Embassy in Armenia has issued a statement condemning today’s shooting rampage in Armenia’s Gyumri city. “We are shocked by the terrible tragedy in Gyumri. We are mourning the loss together with Armenians and extend our condolences to the family and relatives of the killed people. Those who committed the horrific crime must be punished in the strictest way. At present, the competent authorities of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation are carrying out the necessary investigation procedures to ensure an objective and comprehensive probe into the tragic incident. The investigative groups are coordinating their efforts in full compliance with the terms of the 102nd military base stationed in the Republic of Armenia,” reads the statement. A Russian soldier stationed at the 102nd Russian military base in Gyumri is suspected of murdering six people in Gyumri. The only survivor of the massacre is a six-month-old child who sustained knife injuries. The child is now in hospital and is said to be in serious condition. Police are now searching for Permyakov and are calling on Gyumri residents to report any sightings of the suspect. Those killed have been identified as Seryezha Avetisyan, Hasmik Avetisyan, Aida Avetisyan, Armen Avetisyan, Araksya Poghosyan and and Hasmik Avetisyan (two years old).
