Non-governing forces boycott NA session (video)
As soon as the National Assembly resumed its special session, NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan announced that during the consultation with the faction heads they had come to an agreement: a joint statement signed by the political forces will be published condemning the attacks on Karabakh war veterans and MP Aram Manukyan, Secretary of the Armenian National Congress (HAK). “If you want, we shall convene a special sitting at 6.30 p.m. but we find it meaningless to interrupt this special session. Any failure by us will be regarded as a failure of the NA activities,” Galust Sahakyan said. Head of the Heritage parliamentary faction, Ruben Hakobyan, insisted that the special sitting be convened without delay. “Six political forces in the Armenian parliament, including the Heritage faction, are boycotting the special session,” he said. When Deputy Minister of Finance Pavel Safaryan took the floor to introduce the draft credit agreements, HAK, ARF-Dashnaktsutyun, BHK, OEK and Heritage left the NA hall.
