The preliminary investigation into the offshore scandal that involves businessman Ashot Sukiasyan is underway.  Sukiasyan’s lawyer, Yurik Khachatryan, told "A1 +" that the preliminary investigation began a year ago. Different people have been questioned and confrontations have been held during the reporting period. Asked whether Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and Archbishop Navasard Kchoyan, who are allegedly linked to the scandal, have also been questioned, Mr Khachatryan said his client had not given their names, hence there was no need to question them. Ashot Sukiasyan is charged with  large-scale embezzlement and money laundering and faces up to 8 years’ imprisonment. The businessman was arrested in Tbilisi  in January. Sukiasyan was tracked down and arrested through a joint operation of Armenian police, the Interpol office in Armenia, and Georgia law enforcement.
