Nairit plant employees head to government building
Employees of Nairit plant have again gathered outside the plant demanding their salaries for 18 months. Not receiving a clear answer from the plant administration, they decided to march to the government building. A few days ago, many employees of the plant employees received notifications of dismissal. From February 6, the plant will employ only 500 people, the other 1700 employees will be laid off. Nairit Plant CJSC, which produces chloroprene rubber and was considered a giant of its kind during the Soviet era, hasn’t been operating since 2010. Only 500 of its 2500 employees work in the plant today, others are on compulsory layoff. The plant was founded in 1940. Nairit owes 5 milliard 768 million drams to its employees.
