Ruben Hakobyan: Meetings of Troika leaders were not effective (video)
The parliamentary format of the opposition trio was more effective than the meetings of the three leaders, says leader of the Heritage faction Ruben Hakobyan. “When the format was changed and the leaders were involved in the meetings, we had some failures there,” he said. During the meetings held with the leaders, as well as interparty meetings Mr Hakobyan heard statements that the the trio were not united. “The non-regular meetings of the opposition leaders also contributed to the fact that the trio does not have a common position on certain issues,” he said. The leaders have met only once after the trio was established which is already a problem.” Mr Hakobyan has suspects that someone in the trio is trying to serve the trio for his personal goals. “If any of the forces attempts to thwart the meetings it means he is pursuing his personal interests.” “Where did you guess that Ruben Hakobyan was hinting at Gagik Tsarukyan?” says Stepan Margaryan, a lawmaker of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK). He says the leaders meet whenever they feel the need. “The format of the troika allows that the representatives of the three leaders raise the issues and include them in the agenda if the leaders are unable to meet,” he added. Stepan Margaryan disagrees with the opinion that the BHK has given the authorities carte blanche with its inactivity. “We need time to get ready for rallies,” he said. “When there is a critical situation in the country, we shall call on people to take to the street to decide on our future steps,” he said.
