Hrant Bagratyan: If you are afraid, give us the power, we will do it

Joining the Eurasian Economic Union, we are losing its sovereignty, opposition lawmaker Hrant Bagratyan announced in the Armenian National Assembly on Dec. 3. He began to draw parallels between customs duties and economies of the EEU member states and that of Armenia, presenting definite figures. Mr Bagratyan agrees that we should avoid confrontations with Russia “You [authorities] could have discussed matters in a normal atmosphere and explain everything. What did you gain? Today Armenia experiencing a crisis, a revolutionary crisis. Do work property without granting monopolies. Now you say that if we do not join the EEU, they [Russians] will be offended and will leave us in the hands of Turks and Azerbaijanis and we shall lose our sovereignty. If you are afraid, give the power to us, we will do it,” he said. Bagratyan’s time was up by then but he continued to speak arguing with the NA leadership. In response, the Speaker and Vice-Speakers of the National Assembly began to applaud smiling.
