Raffi Hovannisian: Nikol did not mention that authorities in our country are not legitimate (video)
Heritage Party Leader Raffi Hovannisian could advise opposition lawmaker Nikol Pashinyan on starting the process of impeaching Serzh Sargsyan. “We have a president in the country, who came to power through rigged elections. This argument is missing in Pashinyan’s document. He did not mention that the authorities in our country are not legitimate,” said Mr Hovannisian. The Heritage party leader is inviting both parliamentary and non-parliamentary forces, as well as Armenian citizens to a civil meeting to be held in Yerevan’s Liberty Square on December 5. At the same time, he is hopeful that the next meeting will be held with the two other opposition forces – Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) and Armenian National Congress (HAK). Mr Hovannisian says they need to strengthen and deepen cooperation within the trio identifying their aims. He also said the Heritage party is different for others because it does not practice personality cult. “We have free expression of opinions. Maybe I had better invite you to participate in our meetings to see everything with your eyes. Yes, we lack discipline, and I am to blame. However, we have no disagreement over fundamental issues – Armenia’s sovereignty, citizens’ freedoms,” he said. Raffi Hovannisian also said that his party would vote against Armenia’s accession to the EEU. By joining the EEU we are losing our sovereignty, limiting economic independence and deepening poverty and migration,” he said.
