Only three MPs back Pashinyan’s initiative (video)
At the end of today’s parliament sitting, lawmaker of the Armenian National Congress (HAK) announced that he has initiated the process of impeaching President Serzh Sargsyan. Pashinyan said he needed at least 44 signatures to include the issue in the agenda of the extraordinary sitting. “I have collected three signatures for the process and have until 1.00 to make it an agenda issue. I do not think that the bill is comprehensive and I am waiting for proposals. I have not applied to all lawmakers personally,” said Pashinyan. Republican MP Artashes Geghamyan says he welcomes Pashinyan’s initiative. “If only three lawmakers have signed the initiative, it means the National Assembly trusts Serzh Sargsyan and his policy,” he said. Nikol Pashinyan is to give a press conference about his initiative in parliament at 1.30 p.m.
