25 inmates in Armenia infected with HIV/AIDS
There are 25 inmates in Armenia infected with HIV/AIDS. Minister of Justice Hovhannes Manukyan says preventive measures are implemented in prison to prevent and reduce the spread of HIV among prisoners. "Perhaps, this is the reason that there is no increase in the number of infected prisoners. There are also foreigners among the inmates,” he said. “This year the World Bank and the Global Fund again hailed the information and medical practice conducted in prisons as part of the fight against HIV/AIDS. The comparative studies made in penitentiaries in the previous years are encouraging,” the Minister said adding that the effectiveness of the fight depends on all of us and how seriously we understand the importance of the problem.
