Social assistance to border communities: Discussions in parlaiment
The National Assembly is convening a special sitting on Monday upon the initiative of the government. Among other issues, the legislature is to discuss the bill on providing social assistance to border communities. Vache Terteryan, first deputy minister of the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration, said the assistance will be tangible and will be provide to the communities that are on the government-approved list. “The state budget will partially reimburse the fees of natural gas, electricity, and irrigation. Also, families left homeless in the result of Azerbaijani attacks will be provided with homes. Citizens injured from Azerbaijani armed attacks will be provided free medical treatment and families of mine blast victims will receive money for organizing funeral and building tombs,” he said. The official added that the law would be in force till 2018 after which it will be either extended or reviewed. Twenty-one MPs registered to ask questions to the deputy minister.
