EU may apply new sanctions against RF
The European Union is reviewing the issue of applying new sanctions against Russia. According to BBC, it was informed by Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel. Merkel discussed this possible variant during the summit of “Great twenty” (G-20) in Australia. Meeting of Merkel and Putin is intended, but Merkel previously announced that there will be no sudden and qualitative changes, it means that compromises are hardly possible. In his turn Putin said in the conversation with journalists, that the RF moves forward based on its interests and not on the sympathies and so does Chancellor of Germany, that’s why Putin doesn’t predict significant sanctions. Besides, Putin thinks that it will contradict the principles of G-20 and international right according to which the sanctions can’t be applied without the UNO and Security Council.
