Opinion: Armenia’s response will be painful and direful (video)
The downing of an Artsakh Army helicopter by Azerbaijani forces earlier this week was an unprecedented act and a gross violation of the truce, says a senior representative of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK). Talking to reporters in Yerevan, Artak Davtyan said ‘it was a terrorist act against Armenians, a perfidious act. “Regardless of anything, we know our enemy well enough to say that we shall witness similar acts in the future as well,” he said adding that Azerbaijan’s adventurous behavior is already becoming inhumane. He says the attack was an attempt to divert public attention from Aliyev repressions in Azerbaijan. The second reason is the decline in oil prices, which ‘has forced Aliyev to fly into a rage.’ The Lawmaker says Armenia will retaliate adequately, which was also announced by the Defense Minister of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. The Republican MP says the international community also gave an adequate response to the tragedy. “They gave tough assessments. I think that it is our pain that does not allow us to notice it.” Political activist Azat Arshakyan added in his turn that as long as Armenia is at war with its neighbours -be it Turkey or Azerbaijan, the country [Armenia] must be on alert and never rely on humanism or compassion of the adversary. “We should always be ready for such meanness and keep our arms loaded,” he said adding that Armenia’s response should be painful and direful.
