Non-partisan candidates vying for council seats
Local elections took place in Antarashen community of Lori region on Sunday, November 9. Six self-nominated candidates were competing for five seats in the the Council of Elders, the Central Election Commission reports. Of the 183 eligible voters only 62 went to the polls. Candidate Lyudmila Biryukova received the most votes – 14. Zeynar Zohrabyan was 2nd with 12 votes, followed by Zabel Arakelyan (10), Susanna Kharatyan (9), Aghunik Choginyan (7) and Hrachik Ananyan (6). Rafik Kharatyan, a member of the local council, was elected head of the community.
