330 million drams allocated to Ararat region: Does it have any connection with Prime Minister? (video)
The National Assembly today discussed the expenditures and revenues foreseen by the draft budget for 2015. Head of the Heritage faction Ruben Hakobyan was especially concerned about the part of the budget concerning the education sector which said that education expenses had been reduced by 0.3 percent. “It really causes great concerns,” Mr Hakobyan said asking the government to smooth concerns. First Deputy Minister of Finance Pavel Safaryan said that education spending had increased by 11 milliard dollars. This was followed by a dispute between Pavel Safaryan and Aram Manukyan, Secretary of the Armenian National Congress (HAK). The latter asked to give definite figures since the data he had at hand did not coincide with the figures presented by Mr Safaryan. Mr Manukyan also wondered whether the funds were evenly distributed between regions. Mr Manukyan had information that 330 million drams had been allocated to Ararat region for food expenses. “Does it have any connection with Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan?” [Abrahamyan comes from Ararat region] In response, Mr Safaryan said the information did not correspond to reality.
