Should Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Armenia’s first President and leader of the opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK), know that Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) Leader Gagik Tsarukyan would not address the ralliers on October 10, he would make a different speech, says Republican Galust Sahakyan. “He just read out the text he had written in advance,” he said adding that the focus of the rally was the BHK with its leader Gagik Tsarukyan. “The other political forces were like small groupings that have lost their electorate and only demand a change of government,” said Mr Sahakyan. The skills and powers that the opposition trio possesses and the political processes underway in the country counterbalance each other. “Opposition’s calls for power change and people’s perception of this demand are quite different things,” he said. Galust Sahakyan says he was not impressed by the October 10 rally held by the three opposition parties in Liberty Square. It was a party, rather than a nationwide rally and the authorities did not interfere in it.
