Every year 30 thousand people leave Armenia forever (video)
Armenia is facing a demographic crisis, says demographer Ruben Yeganyan. “Birth rates in Armenia have been steadily declining in the country and will continue to drop in the coming years,” he says. The demographer regrets to say that more people have left the country in the last 5-6 years than arrived in Armenia. “The number of migrant is increasing by 30000 every year, yet, the figures are not precise because of the covert nature of migration.” The demographer also spoke about the ratio between fertility and mortality rates. “The annual number of births barely exceeds deaths by 13000-15000, however the present low birth rate suggests that the picture can change abruptly.”
