“Islam in Azerbaijan: past and present”: new monograph
Arabist Araks Pashayan’s “Islam in Azerbaijan: past and present”: new monograph was published. Issues concerning to Islam in the inner and foreign policy of Azerbaijan are discussed in the monograph. The role of Islam in the country’s social, political and public life, the features of “Azerbaijani Islam”, external Islamic influences in Azerbaijan (especially Turkish, Iranian and Arabic) and their role, as well as the support of Islamic cooperation organization to Azerbaijan in Karabakh conflict issue are outlined in the monograph. There is also reference to the features of “Tsarist Islam” and “Soviet Islam”. It is intended for sociologists, orientalists, diplomats, students and the reading public.
