Election of judges to the European Court of Human Rights kicks off
The election of judges to the European Court of Human Rights started on Monday, October 6. Only one of the 14 candidates has withdrawn from the contest. The Commission is chaired by Gagik Harutyunyan, President of the Armenian Constitutional Court. The Commission also includes Justice Minister Hovhannes manukyan, Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan, Rector of the Justice Academy Ruben Melikyan, Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan and Chairman of the Cassation Court Arman Mkrtumyan. Journalists follow the process through monitors installed outside the examination hall. Former Ombudsman Armen Harutyunyan is among the candidates.
