What has the government done with 4.5 billion loan? (video)
The Democratic Party of Armenia (HDK) demands that the government present statistics on economic efficiency. HK Chairman Aram Sargsyan believes that the loans taken from foreign countries have not served the country's economic development. “We are convinced that these funds have been wasted and spent aimlessly. The Finance Ministry has registered loans which do not exist as such. No one seems to know where the funds are.” Mr Sargsyan also blames the mess partially on former Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and says in their 12-point statement submitted to the government by the opposition quartet should have focused on the issue of loans as the key concern. “The opposition should have advised the executive to reconsider its loan policy as it does not suit Armenians to have a country that serves other nations,” he said. Speaking about Serzh Sargsyan’s speech at the 69th Session of the U.N. General Assembly in New York, in which he said ‘To the hell with the ratification of Armenia-Turkey Protocols,’ Mr Sargsyan said, “It is not accepted in the international diplomacy to make such phrases. Perhaps he [Serzh Sargsyan] has decided to introduce innovation.” With regard to the placement of customs checkpoints between Armenia and Karabakh after Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union, Mr Sargsyan said, “It is impossible because it will separate us from Karabakh.”
