Political scientist Alexander Manasyan says placement of customs checkpoints between Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh is not a bad idea. He drew parallels between the territorial sovereignty of Scotland and Karabakh and said the international community should respect and protect the right of peoples to self-determination. The political scientist adds that special conditions could be set up for Armenia to use the checkpoints if compared with other countries. “Everything will be done formally.  It's no cause for concern.” The expert underlines that both Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh use the same currency – the dram, and are in the same economic sector. “We should see to it that the checkpoint does not impede the development of Karabakh.” Mr Manasyan also spoke about Surik Khachatryan’s reappointment as Governor of Syunik province. “If I were him, I would not return to the post.”
