Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) lawmaker Tigran Urikhanyan has not read the shorthand notes from the meeting of Serzh Sargsyan with representatives of the Armenian community in the Czech Republic, which took place in January. “The issue is not included in my primary agenda,” he said. In the Czech Republic, a man expressed his concerns of the monopoly on sugar imports to Armenia. In reply to the man’s question, Serzh Sargsyan said, “Should ten people import sugar to a small country like Armenia?” The BHK MP refrained from commenting on Serzh Sargsyan’s answer. Serzh Sargsyan and Tigran Urikhanyan have different, if not contradicting, visions about the escalating emigration. Tigran Urikhanyan is not encouraged as much as the person who heads the country. Many of the lawmaker’s acquaintances have left Armenia. Urikhanyan himself is leading a life of an average Armenian and sees everything well. Even the   international migration statistics and the figures issued by international organizations cannot convince him. “To tell the truth I am not interested in the opinion of international structures,” said Mr Urikhanyan. Head of the Republican parliamentary faction Vahram Baghdasaryan was aware of the details of Serzh Sargsyan’s visit to the Czech Republic. While he agrees that there is a monopoly on sugar imports to Armenia, the Republican official says sugar cannot be imported by ten companies at a time. The Republican MP does not refute that poverty and migration arouse serious concerns in the society. “People are mostly going to Russia, there are more opportunities there. But what can they do? They cannot live here, in Armenia. I wish life bettered he and people stopped going to Russia,” he said. Vahram Baghdasaryan says the Serzh Sargsyan he knows is completely different from the person who heads the country.
