Shavarsh Kocharyan responds to Turkey’s FM
Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, Shavarsh Kocharyan, has responded to the recent accusations of Turkey’s new Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu. Question: Recently, Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu accused Armenia of the current state of Armenia-Turkey relations and stated once again that Armenia has not responded to a letter sent to Turkey’s Prime Minister in 2005. Answer: I would not like to believe that the response of the Armenian side sent a few days later after receiving the letter of Turkey’s Prime Minister [on 25 April 2005], has not survived in the archives of the Turkish Foreign Ministry. Turkey has long been pursuing a consistent policy of genocide denial and is continuing its fruitless attempts to distort and deny the historical facts. This very position of the Turkish side prevents the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations.
