The rule of law must prevail in Armenia, no matter who breaks the law, Vice-Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Eduard Sharmazanov said speaking about yesterday’s incident outside the parliament when Karen Hayrapetyan, the chief of security for the National Assembly, struck a journalist of A1+ Company,  on the arm, causing her to drop her iPad. It is unacceptable that freedom of speech is ignored in Armenia, and journalist’s work is hindered,” said Sharmazanov. During yesterday’s protest action near the National Assembly, members of Hakaharvats (Counterblow) art group hung a banner reading “Hello, Rob” (where Rob referred to Armenian’s second President Robert Kocharyan) on the National Assembly’s main gate. Just at that moment an angered man appeared and tore down the banner. He also hit A1+’s journalist, who was covering the incident.
