Republican MP: Surik Khachatryan was not sacked for poor performance of his duties
A senior member of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) today spoke about reports alleging that Surik Khachatryan will be reappointed governor of Syunik province. “The issue was not discussed at the previous HHK sitting. Nor was it included in the sitting agenda. It is still unknown who will become next governor of Syunik,” Manvel Badeyan said on Monday. At the same time, the MP reminded that Surik Khachatryan was not sacked for ‘poor performance of his duties;’ he was fired after the murder of businessman Avetik Budaghyan outside his house in Goris, a town in Syunik province. In reply to journalists’ observation whether a person who has been convicted 5 times and does not enjoy public confidence, has a right to be reappointed to the post or assume some other office, Mr Badeyan said ‘it is a purely subjective approach and does not reflect the opinion or desire of the local residents.’
