Criminal case initiated with regard to abuse of official powers
According to the report of Gevorg M., a prisoner of “Vanadzor” Criminal-Executive Institution of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, a criminal case has been instituted based on the materials prepared in the Special Investigation Service of the Republic Armenia under Article 309, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, the SIS Press Service reports. According to Prisoner Gevorg M.’s report, when being arrested with charges of commission a theft, the officer of Stepanavan Criminal Investigation Department of the Police of the Republic Armenia on November 30, 2013 beat and cursed him, as a result of which he admitted that he had committed the theft. A preliminary investigation is being conducted. A person suspected or accused of an alleged crime is presumed innocent until proved guilty in the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of RA by the effective court judgement.
