Vardan Petrosyan's attorney turned to independent doctors
Nikolay Baghdasaryan, an attorney of well-known actor Vardan Petrosyan who faces a sentence of 4–10 years in prison following last year’s fatal automobile accident, has applied to independent doctors. Petrosyan was taken to jail in connection with the deadly road accident on October 20, 2013, in which his BMW collided with another vehicle, Niva, on the Yeghvard-Yerevan highway. Two Niva passengers were killed in the crash. Petrosyan himself was among the injured people who were hospitalized that night. Petrosyan was soon taken into custody and charged with "negligent breach of traffic rules, which causes death." Four days ago, the actor was transferred from Nubarashen penitentiary to the Hospital of Convicts. Talking to A1+, Nikolay Baghdasaryan said if necessary he would ask the prison authorities to allow the actor to be examined by independent doctors. The next court hearing is due to be held on May 16.
