Opinion: Crimea can serve as precedent for recognizing Artsakh independence (video)
Political figures in Armenia have no prospects and they should recreate their image, says political scientist Sergey Shakaryants. “They were all broken and spoiled when they unanimously refused to participate in the 2013 presidential election. This refers to all of them, including Gagik Tsarukyan, Dashnaktsutyun and Levon Ter-Petrosyan… Today no one has the right to announce that he is the leader of the opposition and call for consolidation,” says political scientist. Speaking to reporters in Yerevan, Mr. Shakaryants said no one has been made accountable for the Match 1 clashes to this day. “Both the authorities and the opposition shrink responsibility.” The same picture is observed in Ukraine today where no one wants to bear responsibility for nearly 100 victims. With regard to the situation in Crimea, Sergey Shakaryants said ‘chances of war are very little.’ Crimea was illegally given to another country like Artsakh and Nakhichevan, and it should be recognized as an independence country. “This could serve as a precedent for recognizing the independence of Artsakh in a matter of five minutes,” he concluded.
