Busker earns AMD10-15 000 a day

Vladik Stepanyan has been playing and singing in Yerevan streets and subways for 15 years now.  Yesterday we found him performing the works of Sayat-Nova, Havasi, Shahen near Republic Square metro station. After playing in a musical ensemble in Kapan for 45 years, the musician decided to quit the group. “I received an invitation from ArmConcert but I refused it because my age does not allow me to travel in the regions,” says the 64-year-old musician. He plays 2-3 days a week, for 4-5 hours a day.  "I earn 10 000-15000 drams a day. It is enough for me," Vladik Stepanyan said adding that he chose the street as his stage against his will. “Life forced me to play in the street…” The musician does not agree that people do not listen to folk songs nowadays: "Passers-by stand and listen to me. They say that they get a lot of satisfaction," he said.
