Sculptor: Yelk announced its 'entrance' on March 1

Politics

Literary critic Azat Yeghiazaryan and sculptor Ferdinand Aakelyan today spoke about an opposition proposal to rename streets in Yerevan that still bear the names of Soviet-era figures. We remind that Yerevan City Council’s Standing Committee on Culture dominated by Republican Party members rejected on Monday the bill proposed by the Yelk faction. In particular, Yelk proposed to rename six streets in Yerevan that are named after people who were involved in mass repressions in Soviet Armenia and other parts of the Soviet Union in the 1920s and 1930s.
