Aghvan Vardanyan: Cooperation between HHK and ARF--Dashnaktsutyun is timeless

Talking to journalists in Yerevan, ARF-Dashnaktsutyun member Armen Rustamyan admitted that ‘they have heard many complaints about the vicious system in the country.’ “People have changed, personalities have changed, the authorities have changed but the quality of power has remained the same.” Mr Rustamyan is hopeful that under the new electoral system, power in Armenia will comply with international standards. He says he cannot deny his party’s role in the introduction of this system and will not allow anyone to change the existing order. How can Dashnaktsutyun, which formed a coalition government with the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), be sure that people will vote for its candidates in the April elections if people are dissatisfied with the government? Aghvan Vardanyan, Secretary of the ARF-Dashnaktsutyun faction, admits the increasing discontent among people but he says Dashnaktsutyun has not changed over years. “Of course, there will be people who will say ‘If Dashnaktsutyun is in power, it is a bad force.” The party expects that large segments of the electorate will cast their votes for Dashnaks, if they want things to better in Armenia. “I propose that you all go to the polls and vote for Dashnaktsutyun, especially after this news conference. Promise me that you will do it,” Aghvan Vardanyan said. By the way, the Secretary of the ARF-Dashnaktsutyun faction reminded everyone that the cooperation between his party and the HHK is timeless but its continuation will depend on the outcome of the elections. Earlier on Wednesday, Dashnaktsutyun unveiled the list of its candidates for the April 2 parliamentary elections which is led by Armen Rustamyan.
