Public observers concerned over jailed activist's health condition
Support A1+!In the evening of January 21, the group of public observers conducting public monitoring of penitentiary institutions and bodies of the Ministry of Justice visited Nubarashen Penitentiary after receiving a call. During the visited, R. Sagsyan, O. Zalyan, A. Sahakyan and S. Gabrielyan met with jailed activist Gevorg Safaryan. The situation observed during the meeting raised concerns among the Group members. On January 22, 2016, the Group sent an urgent report to the Ministry of Justice, presenting facts and conclusions about gross violations of human rights in the system and demanding urgent solutions. The Ministry is expected to reply within three days, the Group said promising to publicize the answer. On January 20, the Group again visited Nubarashen Penitentiary where its members had a private talk with the civil activist. The Group later expressed its concerns to the prison administration, Minister of Justice and Department of Penitentiary Institutions.
