The Court of General Jurisdiction of Kotayk province will hold a session tomorrow on the dubious suicide case of Maro Guloyan. In particular, the Court will decide whether to continue the criminal proceedings or to drop the criminal charges.

On Tuesday, June 25, the Prosecutor General's Office informed the injured party that they had studied the motion filed by Guloyan's legal successor and the "Coalition to Halt Violence against Women and decided to continue the criminal proceedings.

"It is encouraging that this time the Prosecutor General's Office did not neglect the appeal of the injured party and did not reject its fair demand," said the Women's Resource Center.

Maro Guloyan died in suspicious conditions in Arinj village, Kotayk province, on July 12, 2012. According to the official version, the 21-year-old woman, who was 4 months pregnant and had 1.8 years old daughter, committed suicide by hanging herself with the belt of a dressing gown. Guloyan's relatives claim that Maro was killed by her 26 years old husband Gevorg Guloyan.
