Aghvan Vardanyan waiting for Serzh Sargsyan's public address
Lawmaker of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun, Aghvan Vardanyan, says he is not a judge to assess the recent off-shore scandal involving Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and Archbishop Navasard Kchoyan.
"It is the Church and the Catholicos who must express their position on the scandal. The Catholicos should have talked privately with the Primate of the Araratyan Patriarchal Diocese, Archbishop Navasard Kchoyan, before elaborating on the issue and the prime minister should have gone on vacation. This is my opinion. This is an internal dispute and if not settled it will continue till the end," he said.
"It seems the political forces are on holiday and there is a relative tranquility in the political domain, but never have the relations been so strained in the social and political life as they are today," said Mr Vardanyan.
He also stressed that conflicts have also rose inside the ruling circles and it is not clear where it will take the country. "The main reason for this tension is the extremely monopolized political system. Currently everyone is waiting for the president to speak," he said.
Aghvan Vardanyan says he would like the president address the people in early fall. I think the foreign and domestic challenges have reached the level when it is necessary to dictate clear rules of the game and take the country out of the existing situation," he said.
