Ambassador Trajan Hristea mixes up slips of paper befor naming winner
Armenians have surprised Europeans with their profound knowledge. At the end of May, about 1002 residents of Yerevan, Tavush and Lori completed questionnaires about the European Union and its member states.
As 53 of the respondents had given correct answers to the eight questions included in the questionnaire, the EU Center in Yerevan today held a drawing of lots to decide winners.
The three lucky winners were named by the Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Trajan Hristea and Deputy Minister of Justice of Armenia, Mr. Yeghishe Kirakosyan.
The ambassador mixed for a long time the slips of paper bearing the names of participants.
Martin Melkonyan, a resident of Agarak village, Ashtarak province, won the first prize. Aram Khachatryan from Yerevan was second, followed by Gohar Ghazaryan from Dilijan.
Also, incentive awards were given to those participants who had given correct answers to seven questions.
Some 141 people had given correct answers to most questions.
The main prize was a collection of six cups with the logos of the European Union and the EU Center. The second prize was an umbrella with the logos of the European Union and the EU Center and the third prize was a shirt with the logos of the European Union and the EU Center.
