Sociologist: Offshors scandal is attempt to discredit premier
Sociologist Aharon Adibekyan said Monday that the recent offshore scandal linked to the names of Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and Archbishop Navasard Kjoyan is an attempt of crude and vulgar provocation aimed at tarnishing the Sargsyan's name.
"No country would have given us loans, but for Tigran Sargsyan and his good reputation overseas," said Adibekyan.
The sociologist believes that the premier is in no way linked to the offshore scandal and if his predictions prove to be wrong he will consider himself to be a bad specialist.
Member of the Heritage Party Stepan Safaryan also attending the news conference said the scandal has smeared Tigran Sargsyan's reputation. He says no one could have opened a bank account in an offshore zone without his knowledge and consent. Besides, the Heritage secretary is surprised that Serzh Sargsyan has not commented on the scandal.
