Tonus announced bankrupt: Residents losing apartments
Scores of residents, who made prepayments to Tonus Construction Company for getting apartments in new buildings in Davitashen and Papazyan streets, today gathered outside the Armenian government.
Back in 2006, the residents signed a contract with the company for buying apartments in new buildings to be built in the two districts by Tonus. However, the construction has been suspended as, according to the deceived residents, Tonus went bankrupt on June 14.
Director of Tonus Company is Ashot Tonoyan, a former lawmaker of the Prosperous Armenia party, who has pledged the buildings to Artsakh bank.
Talking to A1+, one of the aggrieved residents Zoya Petrosyan said several days ago they were at the bank where they were ensured that the problem would be resolved. Also, the group has staged numerous protests outside the Ministry of Finance, but nothing has changed until today.
Alexander Ghazaryan, Head of the Letter and Complaints Department, came out to talk to the protesters. He assured them that the government backs them but does not bear any liabilities before them.
Some of the protesters headed to the Ministry of Finance to talk to Minister Davit Sargsyan.
Tonus has inflicted damages to 155 families in Davitashen and 105 in Papazyan.
