Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan's Avan and Nor-Nork administrative districts has dismissed the lawsuit filed by civic activist Davit Sanasaryan against Ruben Hayrapetyan, a former member of parliament and representative of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia. The lawsuit was rejected based on statute of limitations grounds, Pastinfor reports.

Davit Sanasaryan, an activist of the civil initiative group demanding punishment for all accomplices in the Harsnakar case, had sued the former MP for his ‘dirty insults, threats and defamatory statements' addressed to the civil activist which Hayrapetyan made in an interview with the French Nouvelles d'Armenie magazine in August 2012. Sanasaryan demanded that his ‘good name, honor and dignity' be restored.

Sanasaryan was actively involved in protests in the wake of the deadly beating of a military doctor at Harsnakar restaurant owned by Hayrapetyan. In June 2012, Vahe Avetyan, head of ENT (ear-nose-throat) department at the Defense Ministry's Yerevan garrison hospital, and his friends [also army doctors] were subjected to violent beating at the restuarant. fter a 12-day fight for his life, Avetyan died in hospital on June 29 without regaining consciousness. Following the tragedy, civil activists, NGOs and ordinary citizens organized protests demanding to evoke Ruben Hayrapetyan of his parliamentary mandate.
