Armenian Catholicos blesses Montserrat Caballé
Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II received on June 11 world famous soprano Montserrat Caballé. The Spanish operatic soprano was accompanied by Armenian Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan.
Karekin II welcomed the signer's visit to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, the spiritual center of Armenia, saying her visit to the country had caused great passion and enthusiasm among the Armenian people.
Montserrat Caballé, in turn, said the visit to ‘the open heart of the Christian faith - Armenia - was a kind of pilgrimage for her.'
The interlocutors also reflected on the history of the Armenian Church, stressing its role in the life of Armenian people, Armenian spiritual music and the importance of Christian faith and values for humanity. They also highlighted the need to strengthen and develop historically warm relations between the two nations.
At the end of the meeting, Karekin II blessed the renowned singer wishing her all the best.
