Lights cut off after swearing-in ceremony

Newly-elected Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan was sworn in to a second term at a city council special meeting on June 11. Margaryan pledged to be law-abiding, and to contribute to the prosperity of the Armenian capital.

The symbolic chain was brought from the museum and placed on Margaryan by Martin Vardazaryan, a member of the Council of Elders, Honorary citizen of Yerevan.

Serzh Sargsyan, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, Parliament Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan, President of the RA Constitutional Court Gagik Harutyunyan, is Holiness Catholicos Karekin II, ministers and MPs, former mayors, 59 members of the 65-seat Yerevan Council of Elders were participating in the inaugural ceremony.
In his addressing remarks, Serzh Sargsyan congratulated everyone on the occasion saying Yerevan has a modest mayor who is really concerned about the problems of the Armenian capital.

Sargsyan assured everyone that in the next four years all yard in the capital will be renovated.
After the ceremony when the officials had left the hall, the lights went out in the municipality building.
