Vahan Hovhannisyan to Hrayr Tovmasyan: Twelve years ago you were a normal guy
Justice Minister Haryr Tovmasyan recently commented on the statement of ARF lawmaker Vahan Hovhannisyan who had said that without the backing of the president, the police, parliament speaker and prosecutor's office the ministers would not be elected to their posts.
"You will be beaten in the breezeways so badly that you will not want to show up at the National Assembly. Moreover, you will want to emigrate from Armenia," Hovhannisyan had said.
Commenting on Hovhannisyan's words, Justice Minister said he regretted to hear an intellectual lawmaker speaking up from ‘the position of strength.'
"Twelve years ago in the constituency I was nominated I scored as many votes as he [Vahan Hovhannisyan] might not have scored in any polling station," said Tovmasyan.
"Twelve years ago you [Hrayr Tovmasyan] were not affiliated with the Republican Party and you could have scored as many votes as you say... You were a normal lawyer and participated in the vote without anyone's support. Then people would not beat you in the streets and breezeways. Now let us see how you can get votes without the support of the president and his apparatus," Vahan Hovhannisyan said in conversation with yerkir.am on June 10.
