Syunik governor's son arrested
A criminal case has been filed under Articles 104 and 235 of the Armenian Criminal Code in connection with Saturday's scuffle outside the house of Syunik Governor Surik Khachatryan which left one person killed and another two injured, Pastinfo news agency reports.
Syunik governor's son Tigran Khachatryan and his bodyguard Zarzand Nikoghosyan have been arrested in relation to the murder of Avo Budaghyan, a former mayoral candidate, near the governor's house.
The incident occurred at around 11 p.m. June 1. Nikolay Abrahamyan, a relative and bodyguard of Surik Khachatryan, and Avo Budaghyan's brother Artak Budaghyan, a commander at a military unit in Karabakh, were wounded in the gunfight.
Investigation is underway.
The Prosecutor-General's Office is overseeing the criminal case.
