Whitefish poaching
The rivers of lake Sevan are in sorry plight. The director of institution of hydroecology and fish study Bardukh Gabrielyan thinks so.
He is especially worried with the level of river pollution.
"We must firstly improve the condition of rivers, as rivers are habitat for trouts", he says.
"One of our achievements is the rise of water level in lake Sevan. It will lead to the improvement of water quality".
Speaking about the reduction of whitefish population, he said, "It is a result of poaching. Whitefish spawn only in lakes. We will contribute the reproduction of whitefish by rising the water level in Sevan".
By the way, June 5 is international day of environmentalists.
