Tigran Sargsyan and the first PMs
The first republic of Armenia had 4 prime ministers during its two-year history. The first was Hovhannes Kajaznuni. There was a severe famine during his period. There were more than half a million hunger-striken people in the country. Kajaznuni left for America to find means of living for those people. He did not even have money to buy a coat He did not use the official car he had been given during the whole period he was in office.
PM Tigran Sargsyan is not going to follow his example. "Let me myself decide my transportation means".
The second PM of the first republic was Alexander Khatisyan. Hovhannes Tumanyan said about him, "A perfect Armenian". He was a well-to-do person but he did not add any new property during his stint as PM.
Tigran Sargsyan is not like him too. "My income did not increase. It has increase as much as interest rates have increased".
Doctor Hamo Ohanjanyan was the third PM of the first republic who governed for 8 months. He organized mining industry in our country. He resigned when realizing that he had lost his authority.
The last PM of the first republic was Simon Vratsyan, who officiated for only 8 days.
No one of the above-mentioned 4 PMs lost the feeling of reality.
All 4 of them were struggling to keep Armenia away from communism contagion coming from Russia. Tigran Sargsyan does not have such problem today. Russia is in Armenia, it decides the price of gas and does not threaten our authorities. And the PM can freely speak if he was drunk on Youth Day.
"You have nothing else to do, only to say "PM was drunk". Even if he was drunk that is not the basic problem of our country", Tigran Sargsyan says.
