Civil Initiative addresses letter to NA Speaker
A civil initiative calling itself "Let us prevent gas price hike in Armenia" has addressed a letter to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hovik Abrahamyan.
"Reading the news on the NA website, we learned that a discussion is due to be held at the NA at 6.00 p.m. May 23 which will focus on the pending increase in gas prices. We also learnt that Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission, Robert Nazaryan, and government officials have been invited to participate in the discussion to be held at your initiative.
As citizens of Armenia interested in and concerned with the pending hike in gas prices we would like to know
why representatives of NGOs and civil society have not been invited to the discussion,
whether the discussion will be open,
whether media representatives have free entry to the event," the initaive said in the statement suggesting that NA Speaker involve members of non-governmental organizations, civil initiatives and media to the discussion.
