The Supreme Body of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun) has issued a statement condemning the recent instance of vandalism and immorality.

"The tomb of the governor of Proshyan village, Hrach Muradyan, who was murdered brutally in April 2013, has been desecrated. The criminals have written blasphemous words on the gravestone. The vandalism is not only the result of impunity and anarchy, but also a challenge to the investigative bodies, Proshyan residents and every citizen of Armenia.

Such cynicism is possible, as long as the crime is not disclosed and its perpetrators are not punished to the full extent of the law.

Desecration of freedom fighters' tombs in a country which is under constant threat of war is the last point of moral decline that undermines the foundations of the state," the ARF Supreme Body said in the statement, calling for the law enforcement authorities to quickly identify the people standing behind the act of vandalism and the assassination of Hrach Muradyan.

Hrach Muradyan was murdered on April 2 outside the governor's office of Proshyan village. Arayik Petrosyan, a resident of the village, was arrested over the case. However, Arayik's father claims that his son is innocent and is not way connected with the murder.
