“Have district guys violated someone else’s right”
The May 5 City Council elections in Yerevan were well-organized, reliable and exemplary, and it is our achievement," says Republican Party MP Hovannes Sahakyan.
However, the lawmaker is concerned about a general lack of interest and trust in election processes.
"We are all responsible for it. Both opposition and pro-government forces should do everything possible to restore trust towards elections," he said.
The Republican MP says expect the Orinats Yerkir party, all other forces participating in the polls, had united in the fight against election fraud, although his party had announced that it would do everything to ensure the legitimacy of the elections.
"The opposition forces had created [for them] a pool of fraud and were trying to fight against it," said Mr Sahakyan.
The Republican MP is surprised that many repeatedly emphasize the involvement of local authorities in the elections and allege that they acted in favour of the Republican Party.
He says the so-called district authorities did not only work for his party, but also for the Orinats Yerkir party and Barev Yerevan bloc.
"And do you think that these guys have violated someone else's right to vote," he said in conclusion.
